Mormons Baptize Anne Frank (Cenk Goes Off) (by TheYoungTurks)

I normally love Young Turks, but this one pissed me off. Look, let’s concentrate less on how the Mormon practice is stupid, and more on why it is wrong. To the guy 3:29 saying that Jews shouldn’t be offended because they don’t believe it works: are you fucking kidding me? 

Let this Jewish girl break this down for you very slowly, so you don’t get lost

• Anne Frank was murdered 
• She was murdered because she was Jewish
• She was murdered by people who hated Jews
• Those people hated Jews because of a nearly two thousand year old prejudice that stated that Jews were lesser than Christians
• These people justified their beliefs because according to their scripture, Jews go to hell unless they convert to Christianity, i.e.: be baptized
• Throughout history, this involved forced baptisms of Jews, most notably during the Spanish Inquisition
• The Mormons just forcibly converted Anne Frank
• Because they believe that unless they did so, she would go to hell
• Because they believe that Jews go to hell when they die  
• Which is the belief which led to Anne Frank’s murder

Look, I am a person who is very careful not to make Nazi comparisons. As someone who grew up hearing the stories of survivors, I know that it is very rare that a Nazi comparison makes sense. So just so you know, I’m not making the decision to draw the comparison between these Mormons and Nazism lightly. I am making them because the parallel is clear and obvious and offensive as fuck.

I’ve been around the internet for awhile. I get upset a lot, I get angry. But nothing I have ever read has ever made me so upset. When I first heard about this (through Stephen Colbert no less), I started to cry and could not stop for a very long time. I have never had such a horrible, visceral reaction like that. 

Also, just so you know, the people who baptized Anne Frank have a list of Jewish people who they plan on baptizing after their death. Do you know who is top of that list? Elie fucking Wiesel. They are literally waiting for Elie Wiesel to die so that they can force him to become Mormon.

This is something that has always been an issue for me. It has been an issue for me since I was 8 years old and I learned that the LDS church would baptize people after death.
They says that they have the option to “reject it in heaven if they want to” but that doesn’t take away the fact that they are desecrating sacred religious beliefs by preforming this ritual in the first place.
For the longest time I was terrified of being baptized after I died. I wanted to draw up documents to prevent it. I was told that it was not a big deal and just to let it go.
As a non mormon in Utah I couldn’t really let it go. I don’t know what happens after death but if there is anything there at all - I don’t want it to be like that.

I am not Jewish but the holocaust was something my father took seriously and taught me about from a young age. His father was there in the war and saw things I can’t even begin to imagine.
I was taught to have the utmost respect for the atrocities that occurred.

Yeah this makes me beyond angry.
