Want to see a comment thread about the LDS church's proxy baptism of Anne Frank
There is some bizarre hate in these comments.
Also - How do you feel about the LDS church preforming a baptism of the dead (a proxy baptism) for Anne Frank?
-
bulletproofshades answered:
Don’t refer to them as a “church”. They’re a cult. Numbers mean nothing. Accuracy does not lie in mass appeal.
-
randomcrazyheather answered:
I’m LDS and I’m upset by it. It shouldn’t have happened. The church doesn’t allow it. Whoever did it was wrong to do so.
-
dutchessofdork answered:
It is offensive. To proxy baptise Anne Frank seems to me like they are “fixing” her postmortem. She died because of her Judaism.
-
name-em-shame-em answered:
Physically ill. Anne Frank was murdered by a regime that considered Judaism to be wrong. LDS members baptizing her clearly think the same

That is bullshit. Do these idiots even know who Anne Frank was or why she was killed? The irony is impossible to escape.
-
oka-everywhere answered:
Do they have any right to baptise a dead person? There is no consent by the individual.
-
youmakenosense answered:
If any modern day practice directly infringes upon the religious rights of others (just religious, mind, not others) it’s this.
-
somedaythewaves answered:
I think no one should baptize anyone without that person’s direct permission. A dead person cannot give permission.
-
mercutioslover answered:
Uh, yeah. See, this? This is why so many people don’t like the Mormon Church. Please reread Anne Frank’s Diary, and then revisit this issue

I’m a very very lapsed LDS and it infuriates me. It’s been church policy not to baptize Jews, but people get self-righteous and don’t care.

Dismissive of her faith and pointless to boot. Of course, I’m sure they think they’re doing a great thing.

I don’t like that they perform baptisms for the dead but as an exmormon I understand why the do it.

They don’t see a special irony about not accepting her religion? Oh okay.
