This is from a story on Fox 8 Ohio’s facebook page. A school there has eliminated Lunch period. They simply keep the children until 1:30 and then send them home.
This was due to a lack of funding and voters deciding that this would be the best course of action.
This response was simply golden.

Some kids depend on school lunches. The school is broke, so are the families that go there.

Shelby County normally keeps the elementary schools in all day on the last day but the middle and high schools get out before lunch. This year, they all got out early because they wanted to save money.

for a lot of children, this is the only meal they get. not to mention YOU’RE MAKING THEM GO TO SCHOOL ALL FUCKING DAY. THEY NEED TO EAT. 

I have a feeling that the anonymous comment up there is dripped in fat shaming, too. 

I heard that teachers are now using their own money to bring some bagged lunches to the poorest kids.
Teachers make maybe 30 thousand a year in some schools. I can’t imagine they’ll be able to afford it everyday.
That is the worst part of this city. Schools are more than just schools. For some kids, they’re security, and for others they’re food.
Schools should be super funded. They should be the top priority, if you really think about all the things that they do for communities.
